Unsteady Motion of a Submerged Cylinder. by Seizo Motora.
It has been well known that, when a solid is mov ing in an infinitely spread fluid, the whole effec of the fluid may be represented by an additional or virtual mass, and its magnitude does not vary with the speed of the solid.
In this paper the author calculated ths effect of the free surface under an expectation that the additional mass of this case must vary with the speed or the Froude number of the solid.
